Private Sector for Sustainable Development
Forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) implementation by business in Moldova – as a joint initiative organized by the United Nations (UN) and Foreign Investors Association (FIA) in partnership with the Government and key stakeholders from public authorities, civil society and the private sector from all sectors.
17 Sustainable Development Goals ‒ the efforts of each one have value
Under the auspices of the United Nations (UN), in 2015, 193 member states adopted 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the aim of ending poverty, fighting inequality and injustice and halting climate change by 2030.

Achieving the SDGs depends on a concerted effort by the UN, Governments, non-profit organizations, the key importance of the private sector, which can be a force of changes by adopting and implementing sustainable development as part of its business processes.

Generate new revenue by creating new opportunities for market differentiation, expansion and growth including though innovating to access extremely promising markets.
Employer attractiveness for improved recruitment and retention.
Increased through sustainability and operational efficiency of the supply chain.

license to operate by addressing regulatory compliance and managing risks.
SDGs and ESGs for business in the context
of European integration of RM
Moldovan enterprises take a more active position in the implementation of policies in the field
of Sustainable Development, in particular the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) sustainable practices adopted on the European market.
Consulting association from Denmark Danish Industry will participate at the Forum presenting
the European market’s expectations of Moldovan companies in field of their ESG compliance
and sustainability in general.

to achieve the SDGs
The United Nations in Republic of Moldova is strongly positioned to collaborate
with the private sector on the SDGs.

UN agencies can ofer a wide range of instruments and tools for the private sector that will facilitate further the adoption of the sustainability and SDGs.
The instruments include support, training programs, specific analysis tools and others that they are already implementing in partnership with some companies operating in Moldova and are ready to extend this partnership.
SDG practices of foreign investors
Foreign Investors Association members have been implementing the Global Reporting Initiative, ESG Metrics in Republic of Moldova for many years. Foreign investors actively cooperate with UN Moldova projects in this field.
At the Forum, they will share experiences ‒ how updated business processes, including their extension to local suppliers, allows the company to actively participate in achieving the SDGs.
This experience covers most sectors and can become an example for other companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises in Moldova.
